NOCSAE Helmet Compliance

US Lacrosse, the national governing body for men’s and women’s lacrosse, has been notified by NOCSAE (National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment) that two lacrosse helmet models currently available in the marketplace -- the Cascade Model R and the Warrior Regulator -- do not meet the NOCSAE helmet standard, ND041.

Many Lake Zurich Lacrosse players use these brand and model of helmets.  Please refer to the US Lacrosse website for updates and any guidance on remediation.

The LZ LAX program highly recommends that you REGISTER your helmets with the manufacturer so that you are aware of any updates or remediation instructions directly from the manufacturer.   Information has also been frequently updated on the Lacrosse Magazine's website (whose headlines are on the right side of the LZ LAX home page).

Donate Gently Used Gear!!
Donate Gently Used Gear to a Great Cause!!
I'm Ryan Giroux and I'm 14 years old.  For my service project I'm collecting used Lacrosse equipment for OWL (Outreach With Lacrosse & Schools).  The OWL organization is a Not-for-Profit dedicated to starting transformative lacrosse programs for inner-city schools and low-income communities. OWL is always on the lookout for new and GENTLY used gear.
Here are some of the items I am collecting for them:
1. Individual Sticks (Boys and Girls) - they send them home with student athletes to practice on their own (team gear sets stay at the school sites).
2. Lacrosse Balls (Boys and Girls) - They lose them a lot, and always need more. They also like to send these home with kids to practice on their own.
3. Protective Gear (Boys and Girls) - GENTLY used girls face masks, boys helmets, shoulder pads, arm pads, and gloves are always being collected to offset the programming costs.
4. Lacrosse Goals
5. Youth Cleats
6. Practice Shorts (Boys & Girls)
If you have any equipment you can donate please contact me at or deliver to 8 Copperfield Drive, Hawthorn Woods.  We can also be reached at 847-550-1145.  I'll make sure all the donated items get delivered to OWLS.  I will be collecting items until March 7, 2015.
Thanks for helping!

~Calling all families~

NEED ONE Chair/Lead for Expo --- task positions are/will be filled. We just need a lead to communicate with the Parent Advisory Board (PAB) and coordinate the tasks.

We will have a 'credit process' in place by March with details- We will role out the WEEKLY TASKS to everyone at PLEDGE CARD signing night MARCH 12...please make arrangements to have ONE parent attending.

LZLC is a CLUB sport (still) at LZHS and we are SELF FUNDED.

We are requiring that every family step up and donate a few hours of their time to keep our fees at a reasonable level.  New for 2015- This year we are instituting a new policy regarding volunteering. Every family will front a Volunteer Fee of $150 which will be returned (by refund check) IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS when uniforms are collected at the season end Awards Banquet.  You will be responsible for making sure that your family's volunteer hours get reported to the Volunteer Coordinator BY MAY 31st.

If you have more than one athlete playing lacrosse this year, please go through the registration process and at the payment screen exit out and immediately send an email to Bess Beyer ( )  or Scott Pappas ( )  letting them know the names and grades of your players.  They will make the appropriate adjustment and send your new balance

LZHS Girls - Headlines

All girls need to register NOW in order to attend tryouts after 3/2/2015. PLEASE use RED REGISTER button at top of page...

***Any questions- email Coach Pender or text Casey M.

We have had a small scheduling snafu (again - sorry!!!) on Sundays and would like to MOVE the current time for SKILLS to 2:00-4:00pm  still at KITS
REPEAT--- there will NOT be Skills + Drills at 4:30pm - 6:00 on SUNDAYS for FEB.
To make  this time more productive/enticing we have arranged for a DII or DIII coach (players too) to come RUN these clinics.  Your player WILL benefit from this type of environment!!  Most clinics of this type cost $35- $75 and are CROWDED so the one v. one is limited.
To encourage each of them to come back, we are asking for $5-10 per girl per week (a stipend to buy their gas + lunch). You can bring cash or check made to LZLC and give to LZLC Coach that is present (Coach Pender, Coach Jim or Coach Anderson).
Schedule for rest of February
Clinic will run 2:30-3:30pm
Girls need to be set up / warmed up and ready to capitalize on these coaches expertise.  One on one coach / player contact can be completed OFF the field after 3:30pm. IF parents want to be part of these conversations (suggested) then plan accordingly.
2/8 Augustana Meredith Newman
2/8 Beliot  Maggie Zentgraf
2/16  4:00-6:00 Concordia University Chicago Brian Patterson
2/22/2015        2-4  Benedictine College Cat Thoreson
3/1/2015   2:15-4:15 Aurora Christina Fried
We have included the coaches email for 2 reasons- those looking to be recruited NEED to send a thank you email to them immediately after the clinic + players/parents now have the coach's contact info.  The strict NCAA rules coaches prevent coaches from making (initiating) the contact with a player before a specific date depending on player's grad date.
IF this CHANGE throws a wrench in your Sunday commitments, please email me (below) and we can  prorate your fee for the last 4 weeks + apply the credit to Spring fees.

LZHS Boys - Headlines

As discussed in the team meeting during the Town Hall, LZHS Lacrosse will begin an off-season weight training and conditioning program. The program will start in November and run through the end of February. The off-season is a time that lacrosse athletes should be preparing their bodies for the rigors of the upcoming season. By providing athletes with sports appropriate strength and conditioning programs in the off-season, players and the program overall will become more competitive and effective, while reducing the risk for injury.

Reminders & Program Updates

- Sessions begin this Tuesday, Nov. 5th and meet every Tuesday, Thursday & Friday (except for Thanksgiving week, Winter Break & Finals Week) 6:00 AM - 7:30 AM? in the LZHS Weight Room.

- Minimum of 2 days per week or 26 sessions over 13 weeks is suggested.

- Players participating in Fall or Winter sports should communicate that information to Coach Burke or Coach Sutton.

- Due to space limitations and time constraints Freshman are encouraged to participate in the program either as part of the morning sessions or on their own (Program can be found at If participating on their own, Freshman players should attend one session in November for baseline testing, and one in January and February for progress testing.
